Xochiquetzal is the patron goddess of inspiring artists, weavers, camp followers and advocate of pregnant women.
Indian Textiles Xochiquetzal is a small enterprise that aims to spread the social and historical value of embroidery indigenous to Mexico, the Mexican artisans, as well as the work done by indigenous women within their families and communities.
For several years, we have been collaborating with groups of Nahua indigenous women of both the Sierra Norte of Puebla and the state of Hidalgo, Mexico. Our work has been to generate employment among Indian women embroidered textiles through the marketing of their products outside their communities.
Our work has expanded from the Sierra Norte of Puebla’s Nahuatl indigenous groups, Xolotla and Atla communities respectively. In the state of Hidalgo to the community of Santa Ana Tzacuala and in Chiapas with Tzotzil groups and Tzetales-cooperatives, Las Abejas.Launch website »
